About National Veteran Support

Our claim help is 100% free. No donation or membership is ever required. We will never ask for your VA.gov username or password.
National Veteran Support is a California public benefit corporation and claim-submission affiliate of American Veterans’ Benefits Alliance, Inc. (AVBA), the IRS-registered 501(c)(3) charity. We are maintained by volunteers, and tax deductible donations to AVBA are voluntary and never a condition of help. We assist War Era Veterans and their widows in all 50 states across the USA.
Claims are prepared and filed only by VA-accredited claims agents, who have the authority to provide qualified representation in the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of claims for veterans’ benefits. California entity corporation #C3762620.
We are not affiliated with The Department of Veterans Affairs or any other government agency and we do not receive federal, state or local aid of any kind. We are 100% donation supported, and our claim help is free. As can be seen by our many, many 5-star reviews, the Veterans, Vet wives, Surviving Spouses and families of Veterans who have sought our assistance have had great success in being awarded this benefit. Past successes do not promise or guarantee future results; each and every claimant and each and every claim is unique.
Anthony Hoffman
Founder & Senior Award Advisor

Anthony Hoffman is the Founder and Senior Award Advisor at National Veteran Support, having succeeded Kelly Endres in June 2023. Having many years in the VA Claims field, he has counseled and educated many veterans and spouses about the VA Non-Service-Connected Aid and Attendance Pension benefit. He provides education and counseling only; claims are prepared and filed by VA-accredited agents. No one is more caring when it comes to ensuring that our honored senior veterans are cared for more properly by assisting them and their families receive this long term care benefit which they have earned and so truly deserve from their military service to our country.
Tony became involved with helping secure benefits for veterans in order to honor his Dad, Darwin Hoffman and his uncle, Dr. Simon Hoffman, both of whom served during WW II in the U.S. Army. Tony is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a BS degree in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing Research. He is devoted to helping veterans and surviving spouses secure the best possible outcome in their dealings with the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Paul Valles
President/CEO, Senior Awards Advisor

With “only” 35 years of bona fides in his career history, Paul Valles is our newest member volunteer of American Veterans’ Benefits Alliance’s Executive Team, having joined our non-profit in 2023 and very effectively adding to AVBA’s set of veterans’ services, because of his 3 professional credentials:
- California Department of Real Estate – Broker’s License
- California Contractors State License Board – General Contractor’s License
- Charter Seniors’ Property Ownership Specialist – Certificate Awardee
Hailing from the San Fernando Valley just outside of Los Angeles, Mr. Valles is a graduate of Cal State Northridge with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Paul comes from an extended family of veterans. His grandfather served in both World Wars I and II, his father served in Vietnam, and his two uncles served in Operation Desert Storm. He now serves with us here at AVBA to honor those heroes.
Mr. Valles’ extensive real estate and construction experience includes remodels, “ground-up” home builds, and duplex, triplex and fourplex construction. Paul recently completed a property tear-down, ground up construction of a brand new 22 unit apartment building in Woodland Hills, CA.
Currently, Paul and our Founder, Anthony Hoffman, are working on the formation of a special alliance with several companies who specialize in the installation of the small housing units known as Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), with the goal of helping more homeless veterans in the Los Angeles area find housing.
Additionally, because of his dual Construction / Real Estate backgrounds, he will be assisting our CFO / Senior Awards Advisor, Sam Liotta, in counseling qualifying veterans with certain permanent, service-connected disabilities about the VA’s 3 little-known grant programs for Americans with Disabilities Act home modifications, which help qualifying vets make disability-related home improvements:
- The Specially Adapted Housing Grant
- The Special Housing Adaptation Grant
- The Home Improvement and Structural Alteration Grant
J. Robert Berrellez
Corporate Secretary, Senior Awards Advisor

J. Robert (Bobby) Berrellez is a Southern California native. He attended both LA Pierce College and California State University, Humboldt, where he majored in Business Administration with a minor in Music. He has been with us since 2014, just after we handled the submission and successful award of the VA’s Aid and Attendance Pension benefit for his Dad, a retired World War II Veteran of the Army Air Corps, which was the forerunner of today’s US Air Force. For Veterans or their family members who prefer a Spanish speaker, Mr. Berrellez is our go-to man. His fluency not only allows him to communicate and explain complex Department of Veterans Affairs benefit programs and their rules in Spanish.
Robert has also been involved directly with Veterans, working closely through a family project to help homeless and transitioning Veterans, disabled people and seniors. This project, called Brandon’s Battalion, is named after Robert’s Marine Veteran nephew, Brandon Berrellez. Brandon passed away at the age of 23 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, suffering from PTSD. He was a two tour veteran of the conflict in Afghanistan, and his two brothers also served in the Marines. Robert has been committed to helping veterans and the homeless with programs such as no-cost apartment cleaning, no-cost manicure and pedicure services in the home for disabled and seniors who cannot pay, no-cost furniture, kitchenware and glassware for transitioning homeless who find new housing and who have proven to be drug free and aspire to a new beginning. Robert began his career in International Sales and Importing. He was a designing and marketing executive in the developing Audio/Video Industry of the 1980s. He established a line of audio/video cables and connectors called “Koala Kables”, later sold to the Monster Cable Company. Robert founded an Importing company to market a line of Video Tape Rewinding Machines exclusively through the Top Video dealerships in Southern California/Nevada/Arizona. He designed and developed the first “Auto Winder” video tape rewinder that looked like an American Classic Automobile where the VHS video tape was inserted via the opened car hood. He continued his Marketing and Sales career throughout the 1980s and 1990s, training sales representatives and establishing personality recognition techniques used in marketing insurance and mortgage products for Brokers, Direct Lenders and Banks.
As of late, Robert has been the caregiver of his 90 year-old parents for the past four years. Suffering from dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, both were cared for by Robert in at-home hospice, & both recently passed away from natural causes within the same 30 day period. This life-changing experience has given Robert a unique and valuable perspective on seniors, caregiving, hospice care, and the costs therein, both monetary and emotional. Robert continues his work through the family project, and looks forward to continuing with helping Veterans, the disabled, homeless, and seniors.
Sam Liotta
Corp Treasurer / CFO, Awards Advisor

Mr. Liotta hails from Australia where he attended the prestigious Accountancy School, The Meadowbank College of Technical and Further Education, North Sydney, Australia. Before decamping for California, he ran his own private, point-to-point package delivery company, similar to today’s DHL or Fed-Ex Ground Franchises with many contracts including a 5 year contract with the Government of Australia’s postal system, Australia Post, as well as a contract with Australia’s second largest supermarket chain, Coles Supermarkets (similar to Kroger here in the U.S.). Sam answered the song of opportunity and moved from Australia, stateside to California in 1998. Because his exceptional Do-it-yourself and organization skills are a huge asset, (he has re-built several homes from the ground up, essentially by himself), a friend who was in the film / TV industry convinced Sam to join him. He became a member of Local 80 – Union of International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and rapidly rose to the position of Best Boy Grip within the first year of joining, a feat which commonly takes more than 7 years to achieve. He has worked on such features as Argo and Terminator Genesis to name a few, and recently, he grips mainly on TV and commercial sets around SoCal. He gained his US Citizenship in 2008 and joined us here at American Veterans’ Benefits Alliance in 2010 as a way to honor the U.S.A. for his citizenship. He is NVS’ in-house expert regarding the VA’s 3 designated Housing Grant Programs reserved for Veterans with certain permanent Service-Connected Disabilities which allow them to build or modify housing to meet their specialized needs. Those 3 Special Grant Programs are:
- The Special Housing Adaptation Grant (SHA Grant)
- The Specially Adapted Housing Grant (SAH Grant)
- The Temporary Residence Adaptation Grant (TRA Grant)
Mr. Liotta is also a California Notary Public.
